Description

These Apple Brownies with Maple Glaze are a comforting dessert featuring moist brownie texture, spiced apple chunks, and a luscious maple topping. Perfect for gatherings or whenever you crave a sweet treat!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp maple syrup
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter (for glaze)
  • 1/3 cup maple syrup (for glaze)
  • 1/8 tsp ground cinnamon (for glaze)
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 2 1/2 cups apples, peeled and diced
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for apples)
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon (for apples)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9 x 13-inch baking pan.
  • Peel, core, and dice apples, then cook with granulated sugar and cinnamon in a skillet for 5-7 minutes until softened.
  • In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and cinnamon. In another bowl, mix brown sugar, melted butter, vanilla, and maple syrup, then add eggs.
  • Fold dry ingredients into wet mixture, then gently incorporate the cooked apples.
  • Spread batter in the prepared pan and bake for about 25 minutes until edges are golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Make the glaze by melting butter, maple syrup, and cinnamon in a saucepan, then whisk in powdered sugar until smooth.
  • Spread the warm glaze over the cooled brownies and slice into squares.

Notes

For a lighter version, substitute half the butter with unsweetened applesauce.
Ensure the apples are firm and crisp for the best texture after baking.
Do not overmix the batter to keep the brownies fudgy.
