Description

This Apple Slab Pie brings classic flavors together in an easy-to-serve style, featuring tender apples, a flaky crust, and a crunchy crumble. It’s a crowd-pleaser, perfect for gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • 1 ½ cups unsalted butter, diced and cold
  • 3 tablespoons ice water
  • 3 pounds Granny Smith apples, peeled and sliced
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar for the filling
  • ½ cup granulated sugar for the crumble
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup oats, quick or old-fashioned

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a food processor, pulse together the flour and salt. Add diced butter until coarse crumbs form. Gradually add ice water until dough sticks together.
  • Roll out the dough into a rectangle for a 10×15-inch jelly roll pan and chill.
  • Peel, core, and finely dice the apples, then simmer briefly until semi-opaque.
  • Mix sugar and cinnamon, sprinkle over apples, and drain excess moisture.
  • Combine butter, sugar, salt, flour, and oats for the crumble topping. Press over the apple layer.
  • Bake for 40-50 minutes until golden brown and bubbly around edges.
