Description
This Chewy Gooey Chocolate Chip Skillet Cookie is a delightful dessert featuring rich flavors and simple prep. Made with classic ingredients like butter and chocolate chips, this recipe is perfect for gatherings or a cozy night in.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- ½ cup sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 large egg yolks
- 3 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 10 ounces chocolate chips, milk or semi-sweet, your choice!
- flaked salt, for topping
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Heat a 12-inch oven-safe (preferably cast iron) skillet over low heat for about 5 minutes. Add the butter and melt completely. Stir in the brown and white sugars with a wooden spoon. Turn off the heat.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the egg and egg yolks. Quickly add them to the skillet mixture and blend immediately to prevent cooking the eggs. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Add the dry ingredients to the skillet and mix until just combined. The mixture will be thick but should come together.
- Fold in the chocolate chips. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until mostly set in the center. Sprinkle with flaked sea salt before serving.
Notes
For a richer flavor, use both milk and semi-sweet chocolate chips.
Adjust baking time if using a different size skillet; check for doneness when the center is mostly set.
