This Easy Roast Turkey brings irresistible flavors with apple and herbs. Simple prep and juicy meat make it perfect for holiday feasts!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (14 – 16 pound) whole turkey
  • ¼ cup olive oil or ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 apple, sliced
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 4 sprigs fresh rosemary and/or thyme
  • 6 leaves fresh sage

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 500°F and prepare the turkey by rinsing and drying it thoroughly.
  • Rub olive oil or softened butter over the turkey and season with salt and pepper.
  • Fill the cavity with apple slices, a cinnamon stick, and fresh herbs, then tie the legs together.
  • Roast at 500°F for the first 30 minutes to achieve crispy skin.
  • Lower oven temperature to 350°F and roast until turkey reaches 165°F internally, about 2 to 2.5 hours more.
  • Let rest for 15-20 minutes before carving and serving.

Notes

Transport your turkey to room temperature for even cooking before roasting.
Consider dry-brining the turkey a day in advance for extra flavor.
Utilize pan drippings for a delicious gravy.
