Description

This Gingerbread Syrup combines dark brown sugar, molasses, and aromatic spices for a rich, versatile topping that enhances coffee, desserts, and more. It’s simple to prepare and free from gluten and dairy!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves

Instructions

  • Combine the water, dark brown sugar, granulated sugar, and molasses in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat and stir until dissolved.
  • Bring the mixture to a gentle boil and allow to boil for 1-2 minutes.
  • Reduce heat and let simmer for about 5 minutes, until slightly thickened.
  • Remove from heat, let cool slightly, then transfer to an airtight container.

Notes

Avoid cooking the syrup too long to prevent it from becoming too thick.
Taste the syrup as it cools to adjust spices if needed.
Whisk the ingredients to ensure a smooth mixture.
