This Homemade Shake and Bake recipe offers a crispy, flavorful coating for chicken that’s easy to prepare and perfect for weeknight dinners.

- 2 cups breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1 tbsp garlic salt
- 1 tsp pepper
- 1 tbsp onion powder
- 1 tbsp dried parsley
- 1 tsp thyme
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 4 chicken breasts
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with foil.
- Mix breadcrumbs, cornstarch, garlic salt, pepper, onion powder, paprika, thyme, and dried parsley in a Ziplock bag.
- Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil, seal the bag, and shake to coat breadcrumbs with oil.
- Coat each chicken breast in olive oil before placing it in the breadcrumb mixture bag.
- Seal the bag and shake until chicken is evenly coated. Place chicken on the baking sheet.
- Bake for about 20 minutes until golden brown and internal temperature reaches 165°F.
- Let rest for a few minutes to maintain crunchiness.
Notes
Do not overcrowd the baking sheet for even cooking.
Use a meat thermometer to check chicken doneness without losing moisture.
Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
