Description

This Hot Dog Chili is a must-try for anyone who loves comfort food. With its irresistible flavor and simple prep, it’s perfect for game days or cozy family dinners!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 ½ tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 12 teaspoons white sugar, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  • Sauté ground beef, onion, and garlic until browned in a Dutch oven (5-7 minutes).
  • Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, spices, sugar, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  • Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat and simmer uncovered for about 20 minutes.
  • Serve hot over grilled hot dogs, adding toppings as desired.

Notes

For a lighter version, substitute ground turkey for the beef.
Allowing the chili to sit overnight enhances flavors.
Topping ideas include cheddar cheese, onions, and jalapeños.
