Description

This Onion Soup Gravy Chicken Skillet is a comforting meal with tender chicken in savory onion gravy, perfect for quick dinners or cozy family nights.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 tbsp salted butter
  • ½ cup chopped onion
  • ½ cup green bell pepper
  • 4 oz canned mushrooms (stems and pieces, drained)
  • 1 pkg onion soup mix
  • 1 ¼ cups water
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp cold water
  • Cooked rice for serving

Instructions

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat and melt the butter.
  • Add chicken breasts, cooking for 5-7 minutes per side until golden and cooked through.
  • Remove chicken and set aside to rest.
  • In the same skillet, sauté onions and green bell peppers for 3-4 minutes.
  • Stir in mushrooms and onion soup mix, mixing well.
  • Add water and bring to a gentle simmer.
  • Combine cornstarch and cold water, then pour into the gravy while stirring.
  • Nestle chicken back into skillet, spoon gravy over it, and cover.
  • Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes before serving over rice.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
For meal prep, this dish can be frozen for up to 3 months.
