Description

This Overnight French Toast Bake offers a comforting blend of flavors, featuring custardy bread soaked overnight, topped with a crunchy cinnamon-sugar crumble. It’s perfect for leisurely weekends and special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup Flour
  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 cup Cold Butter (Cut into Pieces)
  • 1 loaf of Sourdough Bread, Cubed
  • 8 Eggs
  • 2 cups Milk
  • 1/2 cup Heavy Cream
  • 3/4 cup Sugar
  • 2 tbsp Vanilla

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F and prepare a 9 x 13 inch baking dish with non-stick spray.
  • Cube the sourdough bread and distribute evenly in the baking dish.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
  • Pour the mixture over the bread cubes, ensuring even coverage; cover and refrigerate overnight.
  • Create the topping by mixing flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt; cut in cold butter until crumbly and refrigerate.
  • The next morning, sprinkle the topping over the soaked bread and bake for 45 minutes, or until golden and bubbling.

Notes

For a lighter topping, substitute half the flour with oats.
Ensure bread pieces are uniform in size for even soaking.
Add citrus zest to custard for a fresh flavor.
