Description

Ingredients

  • About 88 pretzel snaps (approximately 5 cups)
  • 1 cup (225 grams) dark brown sugar
  • 1 cup (227 grams) unsalted butter
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups dark chocolate chips
  • Toppings: chopped pecans, colorful sprinkles, or flaky sea salt

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and prepare a jelly roll-sized sheet pan lined with parchment paper.
  • Arrange pretzel snaps on the sheet pan in 11 rows of 8.
  • In a medium saucepan, combine dark brown sugar, butter, and sea salt over medium heat, stirring until melted and boiling for 3 minutes.
  • Remove from heat, stir in vanilla extract, and pour over pretzels, spreading evenly.
  • Bake for 5-6 minutes until the caramel bubbles at 300°F to 310°F.
  • Remove from oven, sprinkle chocolate chips on top, and let sit to melt; spread melted chocolate evenly.
  • Top with desired toppings and cool completely before breaking into pieces.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
For gluten-free, substitute with gluten-free pretzel varieties.
