Description

These Slow Cooker BBQ Meatballs are juicy, flavorful, and easy to make. Ideal for parties or family dinners, they are great for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 1 large egg
  • 2 pounds (907g) 93% lean ground turkey
  • 2/3 cup (40g) panko breadcrumbs
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced (about 1 Tablespoon)
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 medium sweet onion, sliced
  • 1 and 3/4 cups (420g) BBQ sauce
  • 1/2 cup (120g) store-bought or homemade Italian dressing
  • 1 Tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  • Whisk the egg in a large mixing bowl.
  • Add ground turkey, panko, garlic, oregano, salt, paprika, and pepper. Mix gently to combine.
  • Roll mixture into 1.5 inch meatballs and place on a baking sheet.
  • Layer onion slices in the slow cooker, followed by half of the BBQ sauce and Italian dressing.
  • Brown meatballs in olive oil for about one minute on each side, then transfer to slow cooker.
  • Top meatballs with remaining BBQ sauce and Italian dressing. Slow cook on low for 5 hours or high for 3 hours.
  • Serve warm, stirring to coat in sauce before plating.

Notes

Avoid overmixing the meatball mixture to keep them tender.
Browning the meatballs adds flavor; do not skip this step.
Feel free to add red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.
