Ingredients
Scale
- 18 oz white almond bark
- 6 oz white almond bark
- 8 cups rice chex cereal
- 3 cups rice chex cereal
- 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
- 5–10 drops green food coloring
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup gold sanding sugar
Instructions
- Prepare two large half-sheet pans by lining them with parchment or wax paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, add 8 cups of Rice Chex cereal.
- Melt 18 ounces of almond bark and 1/2 cup of creamy peanut butter together in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat for 60 seconds, stir, and continue heating in 30-second bursts until smooth.
- Once melted, mix in the green food coloring to achieve your desired shade.
- Drizzle the green mixture over the Rice Chex cereal, folding gently until all pieces are coated.
- Add 1 cup of powdered sugar to the mixture and fold for 3-5 minutes until the pieces are dry, separated, and appear green. Spread on the first lined sheet pan.
- In a separate bowl, add 3 cups of Rice Chex cereal.
- Melt the remaining 6 ounces of almond bark in the microwave until smooth.
- Pour the melted bark over the cereal and stir until coated. Spread onto the second sheet pan.
- Sprinkle gold sanding sugar over the coated cereal as soon as it’s wet, tossing gently to coat.
- Allow both pans to set for 30-60 minutes or refrigerate for 15 minutes. Finally, break apart clumps and mix the green and gold pieces in a large serving bowl.
Notes
For a more vibrant green color, add extra drops of green food coloring.
Make sure to cool the mixture completely before mixing to avoid sticking.
Store in an airtight container to keep the Puppy Chow fresh.
