Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups white granulated sugar
  • ½ cup light corn syrup
  • ⅓ cup water
  • 3 drops red food dye
  • Valentine’s sprinkles
  • Water + lemon or lime juice

Instructions

  • Slice the apples into wedges and soak in lemon-lime water to prevent browning.
  • Form heart shapes by angling the slices and pairing them.
  • Freeze the apple hearts for 1.5 hours to ensure coating adherence.
  • In a saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water. Heat and stir until boiling.
  • Remove from heat at 300°F, then mix in red food coloring.
  • Dip each apple heart into the hot candy mixture, letting excess drip off.
  • Sprinkle with decorations and allow to set before transferring to a baking sheet.
  • Once hardened, remove toothpicks and enjoy your creations.
