Description

These Raspberry Nutella Heart Pies are a delightful treat, combining rich Nutella with sweet raspberries in a crispy crust—perfect for dessert lovers looking for a scrumptious homemade indulgence.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package pre-made pie crusts
  • nutella
  • 1 cup diced strawberries
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 egg
  • 12 tablespoons water

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F.
  • Prepare the strawberry filling by washing, de-stemming, and dicing the strawberries. In a bowl, mix them with sugar and cornstarch until uniformly coated, then set aside to macerate.
  • Unroll the first pie crust on a clean surface or parchment paper. Cut out heart shapes and place them on a greased or parchment-lined cookie sheet, leaving space between each. Gather and re-roll any extra dough to cut more hearts until all dough is used. Reserve the second pie crust for the tops of the pies.
  • Spread 1-2 teaspoons of Nutella in the center of each heart. If needed, microwave Nutella for 15-20 seconds to soften it.
  • Spoon some of the strawberry filling onto each heart, giving yourself a moment to enjoy the process.
  • Unroll the second pie crust and cut out the same number of hearts as before. Place one heart on top of each filled pie, aligning them as best as possible, and seal the edges with a fork.
  • Create small vent holes in the top of each pie using a bamboo skewer or knife.
  • Whisk the egg and water together in a bowl until evenly combined. Adjust the water as necessary to achieve a light yellow mixture.
  • Lightly brush the tops of each pie with the egg wash using a pastry brush or your fingers.
  • Bake for about 12-14 minutes or until the pies are deep golden brown.

Notes

Feel free to experiment with different fruit fillings if you like.
For a sweeter touch, sprinkle powdered sugar on top after baking.
These pies are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored for a day or two in an airtight container.
