Description

These Valentine 2 Ingredient Bagels feature an irresistible flavor with just two simple ingredients: self-rising flour and Greek yogurt. Perfect for a quick breakfast or snack, these homemade bagels are easy to prepare and utterly delightful!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup self-rising flour
  • 1 cup plain non-fat greek yogurt
  • 1 egg plus 1 teaspoon of water; optional for toppings such as sesame seeds or poppy seeds

Instructions

  • Combine the flour and Greek yogurt in a bowl using a wooden spoon.
  • Once the dough forms, turn it out onto a floured surface and knead until it becomes a ball.
  • Flour your hands and the surface well to handle the sticky dough, and work extra flour as needed.
  • Cut the dough into four even pieces by dividing it in half and then in half again.
  • Shape each piece into logs about 4 to 6 inches long and pinch ends together to form bagels.
  • Place the bagels on a lined baking sheet with parchment paper or a silpat.
  • Prepare the egg wash by beating together the egg and one teaspoon of water, then brush it on top of each bagel before adding toppings.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for about 22 minutes.
  • Increase the oven temperature to 450°F, then return the baking sheet to the oven and bake for an additional 3 to 4 minutes until the tops are browned.
  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.

Notes

For a crispier bagel, consider letting them cool on a wire rack after baking.
Experiment with different toppings such as everything bagel seasoning or cheese for added flavor.
